I do not currently work with ICBC or WorkSafe claims and do not direct bill to MSP.
policies
As a condition of working with me, all clients agree to the policies below
Online booking
Booking must be done through the Jane booking system, as you will be required to complete a confidential health history form online. I also require a credit card on file before your first appointment. This card will only be charged if you cancel late or miss the appointment.
100% of my income comes from my clients and when you cancel on short notice my livelihood is jeopardized. You're also taking an appointment away from someone else who could benefit from my care.
cancellation policy
I have a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel or reschedule your appointment with less than 24 hours' notice, for any reason, the card on file will be charged for the full treatment cost. If you’re 30 minutes late, your appointment will be cancelled. The only exception is if you send someone in your place to fill the appointment time.
privacy policy
The information in your file can only be released with your consent or as required by law. In order to best serve you, I may discuss your case with the other healthcare providers involved in your care.
appointment times
Please note that the time you have booked is the length of your entire appointment, not the hands-on massage time.
At your first visit, I conduct a thorough intake interview where I cover your health history and your goals. I provide a detailed description of my treatment plan and obtain verbal and written consent. Orthopedic assessments may be required to provide a safe and effective treatment.
I do my best to maximize your hands-on time, but please be aware that it is rarely the full length of the appointment time. You should expect up to 20 minutes for the intake interview at your first visit.
refusal of service
I reserve the right to refuse or discontinue treatment at any time. Reasons may include, but are not limited to, the following:
If you exhibit any of the aforementioned conditions or behaviours, you'll be denied treatment and charged for the appointment.
hot + cold stone massage
what is hot + cold stone massage?
It is a type of massage therapy which combines the benefits of hydrotherapy with manual massage.
how is it different than a spa treatment?
Rather than balancing the stones on your body, the stones are used to massage with.. Initially the stones are moved briskly across the skin and as they cool they are moved more slowly. Cold stones are used in combination with the hot stones for therapeutic effect.
what is the therapeutic benefit?
Hot + cold stones loosen up muscle tissues while reducing inflammation at the same time. The heat relaxes your muscles, releases tension, and increases blood circulation. The cold reduces swelling and helps to reduce inflammation by drawing heat away. Together, the hot and cold provide deep relief to sore muscles and muscle knots
how hot/cold are the stones?
Though we call it hot stone massage, the stones are actually ‘very warm.’ The stones are in my hands during the treatment which ensures they are at a safe temperature to use on your body. That said, different parts of the body may feel more sensitive to heat. In this case, you can inform me and I can cool the stones down before continuing or can stop using them for the duration of the treatment. The cold stones are held in ice-water but are applied only in combination with the hot stones so the cold effect isn’t shocking.
who hot + cold massage isnt for
Like other forms of massage therapy and local heat therapy, this treatment, though generally safe, may not be right for you if you:
what types of stones do you use?
The hot stones are made of basalt - a volcanic rock that holds on to heat well due to it’s iron content. The cold stones are made of marble which naturally holds cold temperatures better than other rock types
